Is Google Lively worth the bother?
Google Lively is off to a somewhat inauspicious start. There are so called “experts” or at least wannabe experts posting on the internet complaining about how lousy the technology is, how it lags, and how it bogs down their computers. If the worst thing that someone can say about a piece of technology is that it’s slow and inefficient then that in itself is almost a compliment. Remember back when Netscape was introduced and many connected to the internet through 2.4k? Well at that point the internet was slow and inefficient, and we all know the internet faltered and vanished into oblivion (sarcasm for any “experts” reading this). Google is one of the most, if not the most dynamic company in existence, and the fact that they’ve created this software potentially creates a great opportunity. For those in the business of developing content Google Lively is your opportunity to make Google need you! Those out there creating rooms are in a great position, and if this sort of content development is your business then I suggest that you make the most of this opportunity. I’m not saying that you can generate any cash flow from having a Google Lively room on your website, but certainly those that learn the technology, and get in Google’s good books, possibly as a noted content developer then if this technology takes off you will be in a an advantageous position. |
